Dr Jørgen Henriksen has more than 30 years’ experience advising rural and economic growth programmes in developing countries.
He is skilled at linking smallholder business farming communities to profitable value chains, in order to supply rapidly-growing consumer groups in major cities. He has also been involved in the establishment of processing units to gain advantage of value addition and create employment in rural areas.
In recent years, travelling from his base in Denmark, Dr Henriksen has provided specialist support to dairy development programmes in Zambia, Kenya, Uzbekistan and Senegal. This includes the Zambia Dairy Transformation Programme (ZDTP), currently being implemented by Prime in conjunction with NIRAS International Consulting. Dr Henriksen was contracted by NIRAS as the programme's Dairy Farm Management Specialist.
Dr Henriksen has a PhD in Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and has also worked in Mozambique, the Philippines, Bhutan, Laos, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka and the Ukraine. He speaks Danish, English, German and Polish.
