Empowering local staff in international development

Empowering local staff in international development

One of the cornerstones of our approach is empowering local staff, so that the legacy of our international development work can continue beyond the term of any interventions.

In fact, across all our work and projects in 2018, more than 70 per cent of our team members were local nationals.

The rest were either members of Prime HQ in New Zealand, Australia, the United Arab Emirates or independent consultants of other nationalities.

Check out this video to see how we're empowering local staff in relation to the Zambia Dairy Transformation Programme (ZDTP).

The five-year ZDTP is working with six dairy farming cooperatives across two provinces: Central Province and the Copperbelt.

Our team of Extension Officers, which comprises local nationals who work directly with farmers every day, has grown significantly in its capacity and skill over the past few years.

Prime is implementing the ZDTP on behalf of the New Zealand Government.
